Hello. I'm Matthew Graybosch. I'm a science fantasy author who has published novels like Without Bloodshed and Silent Clarion and short stories like "The Milgram Battery" and "Limited Liability".

I missed out on LiveJournal during its heyday for various reasons that haven't been relevant in years, but I've known about Dreamwidth for a while.

I decided to create an account because I've been doing some thinking about my presence on the Internet lately. I've grown tired of dealing with corporate-owned social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. I also don't want to use Medium as a substitute for blogging because that's just Ev Williams' fancy content farm, and if he wants me to write for Medium he can damned well put me on his payroll as a staff writer (fat chance).

While I possess the skill to run my own blog using tools like Jekyll or even WordPress, I don't want to "blog like a hacker" and I've tried self-hosting WordPress before. It isn't worth the hassle.

So, I think I'll try things out here since I've got the week off from my day job and I'm sick with some kind of godawful gastrointestinal bug that I must have picked up on the Friday or Caturday before Christmas. If I stick around and become a paying customer, this journal will be my personal journal, and I'll probably create another for everything related to my writing.

In the meantime, if you're into scifi, fantasy fiction, heavy metal, or Unix it might be worthwhile to drop by and say hello.

comments
